Let's face it: we live in a grief phobic society. The death of a loved one is difficult to navigate as it is, and is proven to be more complex for children. Roses for Missy seeks to raise awareness on childhood grief and the importance of navigating through the pain with a gentle hand. We will provide programming and services directly to children and their families, so that even if there is no outward sign of inner turmoil, the storms raging inside a grieving child’s heart can have a safe place to be heard.
Roses for Missy created its organization and its program with components that have been statistically proven to change the trajectory for children who grieve. Our focus is on all children, however, we seek to have a special focus for children of color who are disproportionately impacted by grief (they are 2X more likely to have a father die and 3X more likely to have a mother die compared to White children)- The Racial Grief Gap - Experience Camps
Roses for Missy’s “Grow Through Grief” Fair will be a cutting-edge Awareness and Resource fair that will welcome professionals, children, families, and organizations. “Grow Through Grief” will bring awareness to the severe impact that grief has on our children while providing holistic resources of support.
Clinical Support (Grief Counseling) provides a safe space for children to express their emotions, learn coping strategies, and gradually come to terms with their loss. It helps them understand their feelings, normalize their experiences, and find healthy ways to process their grief.
